Hello, when testing ingest of a folder with DC metadata, all is going ok except an M4A audio file which renders as ‘Video’ in the automated ‘Type’ field. The metadata I have uploaded for this file has the type (MIME type) as audio/mp4. Is it rendering as video because I have this wrong, or because M4A is just a strange format? The audio file is playable in Preservica. Thanks in advance for any help or insight! 

Hello, we are currently researching using Starter for the archving of a not for profit community website.  When we produce, with a crawler, a test crawl of the site producing a 1GB file, the WARC file is shown correctly in the viewer.When we do a full crawl , just over 2GB , it doesn’t render.Is there an upper limit to the allowable size of WARC files that you know of?thank you

For the past several days, I have attempted to change thumbnails for assets and folders but there is always an error message. The photos I am trying to use are under 10MB and are jpgs. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? 

File are not uploading properly. I am either receving an error meassage stating the upload failed, or, I am receiving a message stating the upload was successful, yet the image does not appear. Please tell me someone can fix this soon!

None of the file formats I’ve uploaded are creating a preservation format or access copy. I'm getting an error message in the process monitor that says: Error executing tool LibreOffice CLI on file.

Hello,I seem to be having an issue with the public portal and sorting ascending A-Z.  The typical title will be “<title>, Spring <year>” and “<title>”, Fall <year>”.  This will, of course, sort everything by year, but put Fall before Spring.  So, to counter this, I inserted a numerical value, so that it reads, “01 - <title>, Spring <year>”, and 02 for the Fall, 03 for the following Spring, and onward: In the my portal, this keeps the assets in order, however in the public portal, it does not: Even when I try descending A-Z, it will not have them in order.  Again, this is not an issue in my internal portal, only the public facing one.Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so, how did you resolve it?

Hello, I am uploading photos today and for some reason every time I change the security tag to public, I refresh the page and it automatically goes back to private. In this folder here it will only let certain photos be public, I want them all public to be able to be viewed on our portal. How do I make them publicly available to see on the portal. 

I received the following error message “There was a problem with your ingest package. Browser upload failed, please try again.” A screenshot is attached.I’m using the new template for bulk upload (DC.csv). I’ve tried uploading the files four different times. In between, I logged off and back on. There are only about 65 .PDFs with a size of 27.1MB. I’m using a Chrome browser. I’m uploading into a pre-existing folder on Preservica.  I’ve completed bulk uploads with the new template in the past with only a minor hiccup. With this new template, typically I’d receive an error message about not recognizing the folder with no option but to cancel the upload. So I would restart the upload. The second time it would upload the files. I clicked through when it said there was an issue with the metadata and folder. In the end it worked on the second attempt every time.But I’m not sure what’s happening this time around? Any ideas for what I should try next?Thanks!

Hello all! I am ingesting some image files. I have these files scanned as .tifs but when I ingest them into Preservica they seem to convert to .jpgs. I am basing this on the file size changing (becoming smaller) in the metadata, and also on the assets downloading as .jpgs. I am using Starter edition and I want my files to be saved as .tif. I'd also like the option to download them as .tif or .jpg.  

Has the NewGen platform been updated to support the level of customization that the old platform had? If not yet, are there plans to bring these capabilities to the new platform? We are particularly interested in the possibility of adding custom pages with more design capabilities. In NewGen, can you add additional pages with custom titles and content (like a welcome page, a how to navigate page, etc.)? We would like to use embed code for video on these pages. In NewGen, can you customize the menu navigation? Additionally, will the old platform continue to be available for the foreseeable future, or are there plans to phase it out? Thanks in advance for your thoughtful reply!

I’m in Starter Plus and i’m trying to manage the users and their roles and security tag but i’m blocked by a message saying : ‘’review the Starter Plus and Premium plans which include additional users’’ to witch the only option is the review the plans. I’m already on Starter Plus, should’nt I have access to these features? 

Hello! I’m trying to upload a folder with metadata but nothing is working. I read every post related to this topic on this community hub, I followed the related course on Preservica Academy and followed this guide :  https://cdn2.assets-servd.host/preservica-starter/production/resources/How-to-quickly-upload-metadata-files-in-bulk.pdf . I even tried with the training folder and metadata we’re given in the course but even this folder has problems. Help!Sarah

Hello, I am wondering how I can change my account’s email address. The one I originally used will no longer be valid at the end of this year as it is my student university email. I put a lot of work into my account and would like to change the email so that I can continue to access my files.Thank you. 

The public/private view option in the “Action” dropdown in StarterPlus has disappeared. Why? I need to go public with some images and cannot do so at the moment. Please fix this. Thank you!

I am having an unusual issue: I am not able to upload a folder.I can select upload folder, choose a folder, and confirm that I want to upload a folder. But once I go through all of that nothing happens.This started about a month ago, but I thought it was just a one-time issue. I have spent more of today adding one file at a time, which is not as productive.Any ideas?Thanks.

We have already ingested thousands of image files and now we have metadata to go along with them. Is there a way to upload a metadata .csv file for existing files? I see how to upload a new folder of files with metadata, but the files are already in Preservica. Is this possible? (Without re-ingesting all of the files already present?)

Has anyone had the experience of their asset descriptions being somehow automatically deleted in Starter Plus? The first few times it happened, I assumed that I must have accidentally deleted them myself, but I’m now fairly sure that it’s not user error. At least, I’ve been very careful to save my descriptions, but I still come back sometimes to find them gone. It’s always more than one, too, as if the program is wiping my recent batch back to a certain point. Any ideas why this might be happening? Or if there’s another mistake I might be making that is not failing to click the checkmark carefully?

For users of Proficio and Preservica Starter. Has anyone created a template to add the ProficioID identifier to the correct asset field in Preservica? The Proficio record number needs to be added as the Preservica identifier (not in DC, but in the main metadata section of the asset. I don’t know how to create a template to get the Proficio record number into the correct identifier field.

New user here! We have the ruleset “preservica-default-video-transformation” defined in the access representation section of our preservation policy. The policy is set to run on ingest and dynamically, and apply everywhere.As I understand, this should migrate video files to MP4 upon ingest, but currently, no MP4 files are being created. The video files we’re adding are .mov / quicktime / x-fmt/384 - and this file type is included in the ruleset. Any ideas?

I have looked around for similar topics and found a few which were helpful but did not describe the problem I’m currently having.I have created my CSV file and uploaded a small batch of images and it says it has successfully completed the upload and matched the metadata but when I look at the image in Preservica there is no metadata there. It looks the same as it does if I just upload the images by themselves and I’m not sure what to do to fix the problem, since it indicates it’s working properly. I did wait overnight to see if it populated later and I was just being impatient but that didn’t seem to work. Any thoughts on the matter are appreciated.

For the past several days I have been getting an error when I try to download .csv templates for batch upload. I have the Dublin Core template from past ingests, but I don’t have the MODS one and was hoping to start using it. When I click Add > Download CSV Templates > Download, I get the “Download CSV templates” window, but there is an eternal purple “Loading” wheel, and a separate red error pops up on the lower right-hand side of my screen that says, “System error while generating the CSV list, please try again later.”

Is there a file size limit to what can be viewed on Preservica Starter, both behind the scenes and on the public portal? I’m uploading large tiffs and getting an “unable to open object” message when I click to view either the preservation copies in Explorer or the access copies in the portal, even though the access copies are of course much smaller. Is it Preservica struggling with the large files for some reason (I thought it wasn’t supposed to), or is it more likely a browser or bandwidth issue? Thank you for any help!

I’m adding metadata for a bunch of files in Preservica Starter. After I navigate to the folder with the files in Explorer, I set it to sort A to Z and show 50 assets per page. However, it keeps resetting to the defaults and I have to sort it again every time the page reloads. Is there a way to tell it to sort A to Z with 50 assets per page by default?Thanks!
