Hi everyone-I was wondering if Preservica had any plans to attend the NAGARA conference in July 2023? I think I’m going to go this year! Thanks!Ashley
The Best Practices Exchange (BPE) is one of those conferences that slips my radar until I need information about how the archives community is thinking about X (insert electronic records, born digital archives, digital preservation, etc. here). Inevitably my google search will return a presentation title from a previous BPE (un)conference that seems to perfectly answer my question. And I’m reminded once again that I forgot to mark this event on my calendar and I’ve missed it for another year! So, imagine my delight when CoSA partnered with BPE for their 2022 conference. As a former archivist at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, the Council of State Archivists (CoSA) will forever be on my radar. And Preservica has long had a supportive and collaborative relationship with CoSA. This was finally my year for BPE/CoSA! Thank you TSLA!Tennessee State Library and Archives, Image courtesy of TSLA Facebook pageThe (un)conference was hosted at the Tennessee State Library and Archi
Have you heard the history of the three “ghost” playgrounds from postwar Birmingham? Now with the recently archived "Let Us Play Project" from the Library of Birmingham, future generations can learn about this unique history. 👉Read the full story here Congrats on this important project, @Michael Hunkin 👏! I loved these pictures from the article including one with digitized cine film footage, Booth Street Adventure Playground, as it appears in Preservica.
Shout out to Preservica users @cbirch, @KariLMay, and @bthomas who are presenting at the BPE/CoSA Joint (un)Conference in Nashville in September 2022. These sessions are sure to inform, excite and inspire: Crawling into the Collection: Aligning Web Archiving with Traditional Archival Practice. Caitlin Birch, Assistant Archivist for Digital Collections, Dartmouth CollegeEarly stages of web archiving initiatives are often driven by urgency. Web-based material is at high risk of loss due to the ephemerality of the internet and this risk, combined with an overwhelming volume of websites and the limited resources available to many institutions, often leads to abandonment of traditional archival methods when collecting the web. Archivists opt for broadly scoped captures of top-level domains, leaving behind the appraisal, arrangement, description, and discovery work applied to collections in more familiar formats. In this session, a Dartmouth College archivist makes the case for aligning web
Hi all,I will be attending iPres in September and wondered (if we can fit it in during the programme!) if any other Preservica users would be interested in having an informal catch up whilst there? Always great to meet and talk with other product users! ThanksLaura
