Hi, folks. I am a fledgling newbie who just started the Starter Training. I uploaded the folder containing files of different formats to Preservica, from my Files Explorer. But I can’t view the folder on my home screen afterward. What must I do to view that folder on the home screen? Thanks!

I am getting the following error message when I try to upload a folder with files including a Dublin Core template .csv file: There was a problem with your ingest packageThe CSV metadata file has been mapped successfully, but something went wrong whilst processing the package. Please try againPlease resubmit your package

Is there a maximum size for uploading individual audio files?I have Starter-Plus. I’ve been “humming along” uploading individual oral histories in MP3 formats and then adding the metadata.I tried uploading one audio file over 150 MB. I received an error message during the Browser upload stage. It read “The file upload failed. Try again later.”  The error message disappeared from the screen a few seconds later. The error appeared nearly immediately after I tried to upload the file. It was like the system didn’t even try.I logged out. Logged back in and still received the same message. I’ve waited an hour. Tried again. Still received the error message.Any ideas - what is happening?  Is the file too large? Is there a way to fix this without breaking up the file into smaller chunks?I have a few more files that are just as large. So I’d like to try and find a solution quickly.Thanks!  

Does anyone know why I am routinely getting kicked out as “session expired” after approx. an hour when I am in the middle of working. I have been renaming and captioning large image banks and it routinely happens when I am halfway through typing a sentence. It’s getting annoying!Is this because I am using a starter edition at the moment - I am intending to upgrade when I hit 5GB but don’t want to see this as an issue constantly when I want to work for more than an hour at a time.Thanks

Hi,On the tutorials I watched prior to beginning Starter, I thought I saw that folders as well as individual assets within the folders, could be set to private or public. When adding a folder and choosing the security tag, I see closed, open and public. I also see that individual assets within folders can be set the same way.Can someone help with the specific meanings of those? What exactly is open and closed? And do all the assets within a folder need to be set at the same security tag as the folder itself? Or is it possible to have a folder where some assets are public and some are not? I have assets that I want to be visible to users of the password-protected portal/website. I have assets that I do NOT want to be visible to users of the password-protected portal/website. I do NOT have assets I want visible to the unlimited public. How would I set the security tags of the folders and assets for those 3 types? Thank you!Kara

Hello, I am using the Free Starter Edition, which I understood to provide 5GB of storage. But I my dashboard says: 0.72GB / 1.01GB - Does this represent the amount I have ingested versus what is available for my account? I also notice it says 1GB on the pricing package page. Apologies if I am simply not understanding this correctly.  Thank you so much!

Hello, I created a folder in Starter and ingested image files by dragging them in to the folder. I set the Folder to “public,” but the folder contents themselves did not become "public.” I needed to set them individually to public which does not seem correct. Is this because I am using the free Starter program?  Thank you!

How do you add a logo to the Portal in Starter (paid) edition? The pricing comparison online suggests this should be possible, but there is no option to save it on ‘Style my Portal’. Thanks

I’m new to Starter and have uploaded a collection of digitised images. I can’t see anywhere on the metadata for individual files that it has preserved the original creation date/creator. (Only the ingest and subsequent changes’ dates are listed.) Obviously this is less important for digitised copies of originals but this original creation metadata is very important with born-digital items. Is this metadata stored somewhere I am missing? Thanks.

Hi, I wondered whether anyone could advise on any programme which might be run to automatically populate a spreadsheet with the metadata associated with multiple files in a folder for ingest into Preservica? If this has to be manually added to the CSV metadata file, I can see this being hugely time-consuming and not really feasible for smaller institutions with limited staff time. I am concerned about how to retain the original creation date metadata on ingest. Thank you.

Hi, I’m trying to bulk edit multiple fields on a number of new additions to my collection but don’t see the option to do so-- Only the Single Field bulk edit option is available. I can make some use of this but I would obviously prefer to be able to do more of these at once. Is this a bug, or is there a settting I have to configure to get the Multiple Field edit option back? I have a bunch of assets that are sitting in random folders form a bulk migration. I have found them using the search function and I need to move them all to a single folder. Is there any way that this can be done from the search results? When I highlight more then one and then right click, it says “Bulk actions” but it isn’t clickable and nothing is listed.Thanks!

Hello, I am facing a problem when I try to upload a wacz-file (1.5 GB). I tried two different browsers (safari, chrome), but both show up the same problem: After 20 minutes I am thrown back to the login-screen and the file was not ingested. Any ideas? 

For the past several days we have been getting the “Rename Asset Failed” message when trying to organize the folders on our Preservica Starter account? Is this feature no longer available or is there a work around to renaming assets? 

My public portal screen has come up as a blank page for over a week.

Currently the UX2 fields are Title; Ingest Date; Size; Type, and in UX1 the fields on Explorer are Title; Description; Code. Does anyone know is we have the ability to edit visible fields or when will this happen?

I’m attempting to upload a folder with DC metadata and I get to the stage with the warning “There are files or folders in the following CSV metadata without associated file or folder names...”, and when I click “I understand, continue the ingest” it brings me back to the main page. The ingest doesn’t continue the “Complete Ingest” option in the taskbar is still there.Any help would be appreciated!

I have followed the video and instructions and all seems to be going okay until right at the last moment when a message comes up that reads:There was a problem with your ingest packageThe CSV metadata file has been mapped successfully, but something went wrong whilst processing the package. Please try againPlease resubmit your packageI have tried everything from reducing the metadata to only one file and one catergory with data as ‘test’ - which worked, but as soon as I fill in anything else (even with no punctuation or anything) I get the same message. Hi! My machine keeps telling me that I have more sessions open than the one that I am using. That is completely unnecessary and those other sessions should have timed out by now. How do I shut them? Thank you

I am using Starter and trying to understand how to populate fields in Dublin Core using correct syntax or formatting. I would like to find resources and training videos. But when I search everything is XML focused. I don’t want that and it is needlessly confusing. Does Preservica offer any training modules for DC? Thank you!

I was doing some test ingests of .pst file in preparation for ingesting one for a collection of emails that we want to preserve.Although it appeared to work first time when going to view the emails in Preservica the body of the email is missing: Missing email body If you download the asset, it comes the email had a .dat file attached to it which does contain the body of the email in a kind of html form.Has anyone else encountered this problem or am I just doing something wrong? Any help would be great, thanks.

Hi there - I am trying to upload four .jpg files to a folder in my Starter account, and they are all getting stuck at the preserving point. See below: Not sure what could be causing this? The other .jpgs I have uploaded in the past only took a few minutes to complete and show up in the folder. By the way, I’m a super newbie! Thank you!
