Thank you to everyone who entered the Community Hub Quiz. I am delighted to announce that Heather Perez of Stockton University is our winner and recipient of the prize - $100 to be donated to a charity of her choice! Heather told us, “My chosen charity is Pinelands Preservation Alliance. Here in southern New Jersey, my family and I live and work in the 1.1-million-acre Pineland National Reserve, the largest forested area between Maine and Florida. The Pinelands Preservation Alliance works to protect the ecosystem, educate the public, and ensure that the land is preserved for the health of the planet and global citizens.” The Starter team are delighted to collaborate with Heather and support such an important cause, helping to protect the pinelands for future generations.
Hi all:I’m currently working as a temp at a state university working on content for an upcoming digital repository, which will hold faculty and staff scholarship as well as some materials important to the history of the university. I am writing because I’m doing some research on how academic digital repositories handle sensitive content. Is that something anyone here has experience with? Or, do you have a guide you might suggest? I’m sure it will come up from time to time, but at the moment, I’m dealing with archiving all of the university’s yearbooks back to the 1920s. Unfortunately, the yearbook editors at times included some distasteful content that would be considered sexist and racist now. I’m trying to put together a process by which we can publish and maintain digital copies of items that are important to the university, but also be sensitive to its content and add some sort of warning to content that might upset a reader or viewer. I also want to put together some sort of repor
Hi all,We have just received back a large volume of analogue audio recordings which we have been lucky enough to get digitised as part of the British Library Save our Sounds project. We are now thinking about the best way to ingest the outputs into Preservica (as well as get metadata into our Calm collection management system and link the digital assets to the catalogue record).I wondered if any other Preservica customers have been part of this BL project and would like to have a chat/ discussion about how best to structure and ingest the outputs into Preservica? As an example: Audio filesWe have a cassette tape which has been returned to us with two separate wav files, one for each side of the cassette. This is straightforward enough.Metadata filesHowever, for the above cassette, we have been provided with a three separate rows of spreadsheet metadata for the contents of this cassette - describing three separate audio items included on the single cassette tape - one of the rows of metad

Hi all:I’m out in the weeds, a bit lost while wading through all of the videos and PDFs about Preservica available in a variety of places. I’m hoping someone can point me to a PDF or video that would be most useful to me.Essentially, I’m looking for a step-by-step guide that shows me how to manually add a document to Preservica—without having an XML upload to pair with it.The short story is: For the past five months, I’ve been a temp handling a lot of the prep and ingest for content (mostly PDFs and images) for an academic digital repository. However, the process I’ve been using relies upon Python (and maybe other language?) scripts that both (a) generate a giant XML document of all the content I’ve entered into an Excel spreadsheet and (b) split that content into individual XML files that I then convert into .metadata files and upload into Preservica, with their companion PDFs or JPGs. These scripts allowed us to ingest large quantities of content with all its metadata already filled

Hi Starter community,Some of you have been asking to display thumbnails for collections/folders, so they are displayed visibly on Explorer, similar to what you have on Portal. This new feature would enable you to view and manage thumbnails for folders. Please take a look at the mock-up and let me know what you think. If you would find this useful, you can also “like” it. All the best,MichaelaStarter Team

Hi everyone,I was wondering whether anyone has any CSV metadata files they use with CONTENTdm or for possibly migrating content from CONTENTdm to Preservica? We could use some sample files we can test our new bulk ingest feature with. Anything you can share is much appreciated.MichaelaMichaela.Heigl@preservica.com
The Starter User Community Workshop is a monthly event., providing an opportunity to learn about exciting new features coming to Starter, hear inspiring project stories from Starter users and learn about digital preservation special topics. We welcome your comments, feedback and questions at any time.
Good evening and congrats with this good looking “community hub”.So I thought … let’s test this with a real question :-)We have started to orient us a bit in the vast topic of archiving from collaborative workspaces. It is complex for many reasons. My eye fell on the Perservica’s page related to “automated sharepoint archiving” and I wondered what the current state of play is. The page reveals some high level features but we are interested in more details of this process (both technical and functional wise). Is more information available ?I checked the latest user documentation and ctrl-f’ed it with “sharepoint” but could not find something (but I might have missed it of course); I also looked into the user portal forum and there are some posts. This one from 2020 is in particular interesting. Thanks for any feedback !Lieven
I would like to understand the process within Preservica when i try to upload a file format that is no longer supported. Thanks.
Hi everybody,Great to see you all and a big welcome to all our friends out there in the Preservica community, please come in, look around and tell us what you think. The Hub team will be around to answer any of your questions so just post a question and we will get back to you.All the best,The Community Hub Team
We are tossing around the idea of not uploading TIFF files (to save space in our Preservica instance) and depending on the JPG as our archival copy. If Preservica is doing the digital preservation work on the JPG, is there a need for TIFF still? I’d be curious to hear what you think.
Hi! I wanted to find out whether content made public via Access Portal is discoverable by search engines. I would like to use the Portal for internal puposes only. Thank you.
Does anyone know why my favorite selections not being saved in Universal Access? Thanks for any help.
Hi! Could you please tell me if I could stream audio and video files in Preservica? Thank you!
