I’m making a start on learning and setting up the universal access portal, hopefully using the new interface (not WordPress). I’m trying to find information to help me on this journey but I cannot find anything and hoping someone can point me to the best guidance resources to refer to.

UX2 Explorer: Can I edit the visible fields on my Homepage?

Currently the UX2 fields are Title; Ingest Date; Size; Type, and in UX1 the fields on Explorer are Title; Description; Code. Does anyone know is we have the ability to edit visible fields or when will this happen?

Problem ingesting folder with metadata - I click “I understand, continue the ingest” but nothing happens

I’m attempting to upload a folder with DC metadata and I get to the stage with the warning “There are files or folders in the following CSV metadata without associated file or folder names...”, and when I click “I understand, continue the ingest” it brings me back to the main page. The ingest doesn’t continue the “Complete Ingest” option in the taskbar is still there.Any help would be appreciated!

ProficioID Identifier Template

For users of Proficio and Preservica Starter. Has anyone created a template to add the ProficioID identifier to the correct asset field in Preservica? The Proficio record number needs to be added as the Preservica identifier (not in DC, but in the main metadata section of the asset. I don’t know how to create a template to get the Proficio record number into the correct identifier field.

Trouble with uploading metadata

Hello,I am new to Preservica Starter and to archiving/Dublin Core… I am trying to upload a folder with files and attached metadata. I have followed the video and instructions and all seems to be going okay until right at the last moment when a message comes up that reads:There was a problem with your ingest packageThe CSV metadata file has been mapped successfully, but something went wrong whilst processing the package. Please try againPlease resubmit your packageI have tried everything from reducing the metadata to only one file and one catergory with data as ‘test’ - which worked, but as soon as I fill in anything else (even with no punctuation or anything) I get the same message. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you so much!Janet

Changing user email in Preservica

Hello,I would like to transfer ownership of my Preservica account to the organization I started it up for.  It currently has my email information to login, but I would like to change this to a generic email for the organization.  How could I go about doing this?  Thanks!

Combining multiple WARCs from Archive-It

We recently started with Preservica 7.2.1, Professional Plus.We want to ingest website crawls created in Archive-IT.  Each Archive-IT crawl produced multiple WARC files which we are able to harvest using the WASAPI tool. My question is:  Has anyone recently successfully ingested multiple WARC files from a single Archive-IT Website crawl and integrated them so that Replay rendered them as a single viewable resource?I would love to get notes on your workflow!Thanks in advance-Elizabeth Altman

Hi! My machine keeps telling me that I have more sessions open than the one that I am using. That is completely unnecessary and those other sessions should have timed out by now. How do I shut them? Thank you

Need Resources on cataloging in DC

I am using Starter and trying to understand how to populate fields in Dublin Core using correct syntax or formatting. I would like to find resources and training videos. But when I search everything is XML focused. I don’t want that and it is needlessly confusing. Does Preservica offer any training modules for DC? Thank you!

Email body not appearing

I was doing some test ingests of .pst file in preparation for ingesting one for a collection of emails that we want to preserve.Although it appeared to work first time when going to view the emails in Preservica the body of the email is missing: Missing email body If you download the asset, it comes the email had a .dat file attached to it which does contain the body of the email in a kind of html form.Has anyone else encountered this problem or am I just doing something wrong? Any help would be great, thanks.

Maximum size WARC files for ReplayWeb viewer in Starter

Hello, we are currently researching using Starter for the archving of a not for profit community website.  When we produce, with a crawler, a test crawl of the site producing a 1GB file, the WARC file is shown correctly in the viewer.When we do a full crawl , just over 2GB , it doesn’t render.Is there an upper limit to the allowable size of WARC files that you know of?thank you

Stuck in Preserving phase of ingest

Hi there - I am trying to upload four .jpg files to a folder in my Starter account, and they are all getting stuck at the preserving point. See below: Not sure what could be causing this? The other .jpgs I have uploaded in the past only took a few minutes to complete and show up in the folder. By the way, I’m a super newbie! Thank you!

For the past several days we have been getting the “Rename Asset Failed” message when trying to organize the folders on our Preservica Starter account? Is this feature no longer available or is there a work around to renaming assets?

Max size for CSV metadata import?

Hi all,I have been attempting to upload the City of Milwaukee’s largest accession yet in terms of number of files (over 6,000). I ran Directory Printer on the records in order to associate base metadata (format, collection identifiers, dates, etc.) on the records, copied into the CSV template, and attempted to upload using the usual bulk metadata upload process. This… did not go well, to the tune of “hung for half an hour and then kicked me out without uploading”.I have confirmed that I am able to upload the files WITHOUT the metadata files in a relatively expedited manner. I have also confirmed using a subset of the files that I have the template formatted correctly to perform the upload. So what I assume is happening is that the parser is going through the spreadsheet and mapping to the files in the upload package… which is a process that takes an extra-long time with 6000+ files.So I put it to the community: Have any of you discovered a soft cap on the number of files you can import

Transcript

Hello,I would like to have a transcript field for resources that were handwritten. My plan is to scan a few old sermon scripts that were handwritten and have a transcript of the sermon so that it is accessible to readers. I get a message saying the metadata file can’t be loaded because it is not in CSV format. Mine is saved as CSV in Microsoft. I used the template provided. What am I doing wrong?

Sort of self explanatory. I’ve gotten to the stage where the alert comes up to say “There are files or folders in the following CSV metadata without associated file or folder names, no metadata will be mapped to those rows...” and when I click “I understand, continue the ingest” it brings me back to the main page but nothing happens and I still have the “Complete Ingest” option in the taskbar. Any assistance would be great!

Change default display options in explorer?

I’m adding metadata for a bunch of files in Preservica Starter. After I navigate to the folder with the files in Explorer, I set it to sort A to Z and show 50 assets per page. However, it keeps resetting to the defaults and I have to sort it again every time the page reloads. Is there a way to tell it to sort A to Z with 50 assets per page by default?Thanks!

Exporting AIPS - XIP access

I’m trying out the starter edition, and I can see some preservation/technical metadata in the main GUI. Does any edition of Preservica have an ‘AIP Export’ option, or perhaps just exporting this technical/preservation metadata in some form? I’ve seen bits and pieces in the community hub about XIP and XSL transforms to METS and PREMIS, but this doesn’t seem to be available to starer edition users? I’m mostly interested in seeing what kinds of information is exportable from Preservica. Best, Kieran O’LearyNational Library of Ireland

Cannot Upload Folder

I am having an unusual issue: I am not able to upload a folder.I can select upload folder, choose a folder, and confirm that I want to upload a folder. But once I go through all of that nothing happens.This started about a month ago, but I thought it was just a one-time issue. I have spent more of today adding one file at a time, which is not as productive.Any ideas?Thanks.

Bulk edit won't continue after I select "Yes, continue"

As a new user of Starter I am exploring and trying out all the features and functions.Bulk editing is very important to me but I cannot get it to execute after setting the fields as I want them. I’ve tried a few times but no luck.It stays on this screen after I click “Yes, continue”:

Cannot make the top level folder in my hierarchy public

I am trying to get items to appear in the portal view. And I understand that I need to make sure all levels are public, from the item to the folder structure it is nested in. I go to the folder level, right click on the folder title, and scroll down and choose public (it is currently set to private) and then a box containing a large red dot and a message flashes on the screen and then disappears before I can read it or engage with the content and then when I right click the folder name again, I can see that access is still coded as “private”. What the heck is going on?

Receiving “Ingest aborted” messages after browser upload of folder

I am a brand new Starter Plus user and this is my first community post. After having uploaded 5 other folders without any issues, my attempts at two new folders were both met with “Ingest Aborted” messages. The folder contains only .TIFF files. It would be much nicer if there was more information provided as to “why” the Ingest failed. I am using the Chrome browser on my Mac.Any suggestions before I try calling a live support person (do they exist, or is support only with email?)Thank you.John in Seattle
